THE HAMMAR REMOTE RELEASE SYSTEMS FOR LIFERAFTS AND SAFETY EQIUPMENT
Having the Hammar Remote Release System onboard certainly has its advantages.
Firstly the Hammar Remote Release System is designed to release heavy loads, such as liferafts, evacuation systems or other lifesaving appliances with little effort on all kinds of vessels. It saves space because the lifesaving appliances can be placed out of the way and still be readily available. A few pump strokes or pressing the button, will activate the remote release unit, saving precious time and crew effort in case of an emergency. In other words, you have a release system for lifesaving appliances at an arm's length.
The remote release unit is made of glassfibre reinforced nylon and all hardware are made of acid resistant stainless steel or epoxy coated saltwater resistant alloy, which makes the whole installation completely weatherproof.
The Hammar Remote Release System needs no maintenance or spare parts and a minimum of annual service. Check the function of the system annually, install a new release unit every two years and dispose of the expired one. Also, a few splashes of paint do not impair the function of the system.
Lastly, the Hammar Remote Release System unit has a breaking load of the rope sling of 3750 lbs (1700 kg) making light work of a heavy job!
There are two different Hammar Remote Release Systems available: MRRS and ERRS
The Hammar MRRS: Manual Remote Release System (vacuum) - for shorter systems with few liferafts
The Hammar ERRS: Electronic Remote Release System - for major systems with more liferafts Both the MRRS and the ERRS systems are approved according to SOLAS and EU directive by leading shipping authorities.
